Among other things, sucking habits lead to protrusion of the maxillary anterior teeth and can increase an already existing retraction of the mandible.
This is where the MUPPY small cap is indicated. The small (biting) cap prevents tipping of the vestibular plate when the lower jaw is retracted, thereby guiding it forwards.
